Ricardo Troncoso
Ricardo Troncoso was born in Santiago, Chile and studied physics at Universidad de Chile, where he received his B.Sc. degree in Physics in 1993.   After receiving his Ph.D in 1996, he joined Universidad de Santigo as a Fondecyt postdoctoral researcher during three years.  In 1999 he travelled to Université Libre de Bruxelles for his second postdoctoral position, with a grant from the "Direction de la Recherche Scientifique - Communauté Française de Belgique". Ricardo joined the Centro de Estudios Científicos in the year 2000, as an Assistant Professor and as a Researcher since 2004.

His research within the theoretical physics group focuses on different aspects of gravitation and high energy physics.  Specifically, his interest in reformulating supergravity theories in dimensions higher than four, drove him to review the basic notions about energy in gravitation, the asymptotic structure of spacetime and the structure of degenerate dynamical systems, which manifest through the existence of exact solutions, including black holes, wormholes and extended objects.
